This calculator helps you estimate the import tax and VAT for goods entering Uganda. It factors in the product value, shipping cost, import duty rate, and VAT rate as per Ugandan customs regulations.

How It Works

The total import tax is calculated by adding the import duty (based on the product value and shipping cost) and VAT (on the total value).

Example Calculation

For a product worth UGX 500,000 with shipping cost of UGX 20,000, a 10% import duty rate, and 18% VAT, the total tax would be calculated as:

Total Value = Product Value + Shipping Cost = UGX 500,000 + UGX 20,000 = UGX 520,000

Import Duty = 10% of UGX 520,000 = UGX 52,000

VAT = 18% of UGX 520,000 = UGX 93,600

Total Tax = UGX 52,000 + UGX 93,600 = UGX 145,600

Why It Matters

Understanding import taxes helps businesses and individuals plan their import costs effectively and avoid unexpected fees at customs.
